Corporate history
The history of PLUS CORPORATION started in 1948, when Chiyoda Stationery Co., Ltd. was founded through the merger of two wholesalers of office supplies in Tokyo – Imaizumi Shoten and Suzuki Shoten. The company name was then changed to PLUS CORPORATION in 1959. The name was derived from the fact that two companies were merged together (equaling a “plus”), as well as the implication of the founder’s aspiration to create a company that would be a plus to society. Further, it was with a view to expanding future business that we named our company differently from other companies at the time that named them-selves after the products they handled or the industry they were in, such as ○○ Office Equipment or △△ Stationery Wholesaler. Since then, we have been working enthusiastically as a manufacturer in product development, and have steadily transformed from a wholesaler of stationery and office supplies into a branded manufacturer, and then a full-scale manufacturer with our own factories. We have meanwhile continued to promote market creation, includ-ing developing unique distribution services such as ASKUL and Biznet which are not bound by the business practices of the industry or the product ranges of stationery and office furniture. In response to this ever-changing economic environment, we focus on each business operation such as manufacturing and distribution, while still seeking optimal management systems, and as a management company of our group companies engaging in logistics, manufacturing, sales, and other business worldwide, we aim to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
