Striving for sustainable procurement
In addition to ensuring quality and safety, appropriate prices and stable supplies, all things which we have emphasized in our procurement of raw materials, materials, and products, we and our suppliers will show due consideration for human rights, labor, and health and safety, and will protect the global environment and engage in fair and impartial transactions. We will further develop relationships of mutual trust with our corporate partners, and will fulfill our responsibilities with regard to sustainable procurement activities.

1. Contribute to the environment by utilizing natural wood and domestically produced timber
Participation in the SENDAN CYCLE, with the aim of building a timber recycling system
In January of 2022, PLUS CORPORATION, the Furniture Company, started “MOKURAL”, which is a project that aims to revitalize the health of forests and achieve carbon neutrality through proactive utilization of domestic timber. The first initiative was our release of the “Vicenda” Series, timber-metal composite office furniture made from domestic fast-growing broad-leaved bead trees.
Also, since 2022, we have been participating in the “SENDAN CYCLE” hosted by the Fukuoka Cooperative Okawa Furniture Industry Regional Material Development Subcommittee. Sendan (white cedar) is a fast-growing broadleaf tree that grows in Japan. It matures more quickly than conifers such as sugi (Japanese cedar) or hinoki (Japanese cypress), and its capacity to absorb CO2 is said to be three times that of typical broadleaf trees. SENDAN CYCLE leverages those strengths and is intended to create a timber cycle that keeps mountains and forests in good health by appropriately felling and utilizing neglected conifers, and planting sendan trees in their place. Going forward, we will continue to link the upstream and downstream of the timber supply chain, and promote furniture production using local timber throughout Japan, and also aim to contribute to sustainable industry and the reduction of negative environmental impact in cooperation with local communities. -

Building resilient infrastructure
We will create an organizational structure that can provide products and services without disruptions to the value chain even in the event of an unforeseen situation, such as a large-scale disaster. We will also expand new products and services that contribute to safety and security.

1. Create a highly effective BCP

2. Contribute to sustainable procurement and purchasing, and to regional safety and security
Our ability to continue our business stably is an important element in The PLUS Group activities to implement sustainability. Decentralization of our business locations is considered to be one measure towards that end.
Our nationwide offices and logistics bases are infrastructure to enhance the services we provide to our customers, but they also function as strategic bases to channel support from other locations to disaster-struck areas, and to keep our business running. We will build robust business infrastructure through facility management that provides services to customers in normal times and functions as disaster infrastructure during emergencies. At the same time, the expansion of our telecommuting system, which aims to help employees improve their work-life balance, has enabled us to realize a structure where employees can utilize the telecommuting environment even if their office has been struck by a disaster so that business is not interrupted.
